A place to call home… or holiday?
The brief to O’Neil Architecture was elaborate – the clients “wish list” meticulously planned and the results speak for themselves.
Right from the outset of the project, the owners worked together with O’Neil and Hewitt to ensure that all aspects of their design brief could be achieved. This working relationship continued right through to completion of the house
Built over three levels, plus a mezzanine level, this generous family home features an enclosed lap pool, which can be opened by way of roof louvres and bi-fold doors, a Hollywood-inspired movie theatre with cutting edge carpet & furnishings to make the movie experience truly special and a unique central stairwell with laminated glass treads which are positional on central steel supports. As the stairwell was the first of it’s kind, a miniature was made to help determine the exact design.
The kitchen had to meet exceptionally high standards, as the clients entertain often, and are passionate about cooking. It truly forms the hub of the home centered amongst four of the homes entertaining and living areas.
The double height entrance is lined with volcanic rock (excavated from the site), windows are draped in superb fabrics, wall surfaces are lined with textured and embossed papers, floors are covered in porcelain tiles and wool carpet and light spills from distinctive European fittings.
The overall results is nothing short of magnificent.
